Stacking The Shelves #137/Sunday Post #69

Stacking The Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality as a way to share all the books we got during the week!

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. Its a weekly post to showcase what books you got, recap the week, and talk about what will be coming up this week on the blog!

So I've just been hearing amazing things about With The Fire On High and I saw a copy at the used bookstore and knew I had to grab it. And I finally got a hardcover of the new covers for the Shatter Me series!!! I'm so happy!

My first ever wish granted on NetGalley. I'm freaking thrilled! This is one of my most anticipated books of 2019! Thank you so much to NetGalley and Wednesday Books! :D :D :D

I got The Crown's Game and The Last Namsara in audiobook form because I heard the audiobooks for them are great. And the ebook for To Kill A Kingdom finally didn't have a huge amount of holds on it so I was able to get it.

So a lot has happened in the past month. Me and Jeff split. It was more a mutual thing. There's no hard feelings. We just work better as friends and he's still my absolute best friend in the world. An ex that I hadn't talked to in 7 years came back into my life. And it's actually kinda cool. There was never anything bad between us when we broke up. We just broke up cuz he moved away. So reconnecting with him has been a lot of fun actually. We're actually kinda back together. Idk, we just get each other in a way others don't. I also went to my first baseball game. It was a Diamondbacks game (obviously living in AZ).

I haven't got as much reading as I wanted done this month. I have got more than halfway through at least 3 different books. But I lost the charger to my book light which sucks because I do most of my reading at night. So I need to have a serious search for that. But otherwise things are good.

Wicked Fox (Gumiho #1)
Author: Kat Cho
Publisher: G.P. Putnam's Sons BYR
Publication Date: June 25, 2019

A fresh and addictive fantasy-romance set in modern-day Seoul.

Eighteen-year-old Gu Miyoung has a secret--she's a gumiho, a nine-tailed fox who must devour the energy of men in order to survive. Because so few believe in the old tales anymore, and with so many evil men no one will miss, the modern city of Seoul is the perfect place to hide and hunt.

But after feeding one full moon, Miyoung crosses paths with Jihoon, a human boy, being attacked by a goblin deep in the forest. Against her better judgment, she violates the rules of survival to rescue the boy, losing her fox bead--her gumiho soul--in the process.

Jihoon knows Miyoung is more than just a beautiful girl--he saw her nine tails the night she saved his life. His grandmother used to tell him stories of the gumiho, of their power and the danger they pose to humans. He's drawn to her anyway.

With murderous forces lurking in the background, Miyoung and Jihoon develop a tenuous friendship that blossoms into something more. But when a young shaman tries to reunite Miyoung with her bead, the consequences are disastrous . . . forcing Miyoung to choose between her immortal life and Jihoon's.

Top Ten Tuesday: Most Anticipated Releases of the Second Half of 2019

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Most Anticipated Releases of the Second Half of 2019

Ok, so I put the list in order of release date (which I'll also add for each).

  1. Five Dark Fates (Three Dark Crowns #4) by Kendare Blake: September 3, 2019 - The Three Dark Crowns series rocked my world last year! I read the first book and became so interested in this story. I'm so excited for Five Dark Fates that I actually ordered the Five Dark Fates Special Edition Box from Beacon Book Box. And it comes out 5 days before my birthday! :D
  2. Eclipse The Skies (Ignite The Stars #2) by Maura Milan: September 3, 2019 - Ignite The Stars was one of my surprises of last year. I wasn't expecting a whole lot going in and ended up really loving it. And I'm so happy there's a sequel! If you like Sci-fi novels, definitely pick up Ignite The Stars before Eclipse The Skies comes out! You will not be disappointed!
  3. The Girl The Sea Gave Back by Adrienne Young: September 3, 2019 - I fell in love with Sky In The Deep last year! I loved Adrienne Young's writing and storytelling. I knew I'd absolutely have to pick up the companion novel when I heard about it. I'm dying to see what kind of story she writes for Tova.
  4. Capturing The Devil (Stalking Jack The Ripper #4) by Kerri Maniscalco: September 10, 2019 - So I've only read the first book of the series honestly, but I loved it! I have Hunting Prince Dracula on my Libby App and Escaping From Houdini already on my shelf so I just need to get them started now. I'm really looking forward to seeing how the story will go in Chicago and what the final outcome will be for Audrey and Thomas!
  5. Shatter City (Impostors #2) by Scott Westerfeld: September 17, 2019 - As you all know, I love Scott's Uglies series and just absolutely loved the first book in the spin-off from it Impostors. I'm just dying to get my hands on Shatter City (though I'm not the biggest fan of the title). I cannot wait to see whats going to happen next to Frey and Rafi!
  6. The Burning Shadow (Origin #2) by Jennifer L. Armentrout: October 8, 2019 - As you guys know, I've been forever a fan of Jennifer's Lux series. So I had to read the Origin spin off The Darkest Star and I loved it so much!!!! And I'm so freaking excited to see where this story is gonna go! The Darkest Star just dropped so many bombshells if you had read the Lux series beforehand, and it seems like The Burning Shadow is going to drop a few more!
  7. Girls of Storm and Shadow (Girls of Paper and Fire #2) by Natasha Ngan: November 5, 2019 - So I actually haven't even finished Girls of Paper and Fire yet. But I have started it and I'm really liking it and can already tell I'll be wanting the next one! And look at that cover! It's freaking gorgeous!
  8. Supernova (Renegades #3) by Marissa Meyer: November 5, 2019 - So as you guys remember, I was very skeptical about Renegades. I was not sure I'd like it but I gave it a chance and actually really enjoyed it. I'm not done with Archenemies yet, but I'm over halfway through it and I'm already enjoying it even more than I did Renegades. So I know I'm going to be wanting Supernova as soon as I'm done with it!
  9. The Queen of Nothing (The Folk of the Air #3) by Holly Black: November 19, 2019 - So I loved The Cruel Prince and even though I've only just started The Wicked King, I know 100% I'm gonna need this asap! And that cover is beautiful!
  10. Children of Virtue and Vengeance (Legacy of Orïsha #2) by Tomi Adeyemi: December 3, 2019 - So this was on my first half of 2019 list, then it got pushed back to December, in which it now appears again! I freaking loved Children of Blood and Bone. It was one of my favorite overall reads of 2018 and it had such an amazing story! I CANNOT wait to get my hands on this because I NEED to know whats going to happen next!

Ghosts of the Shadow Market (Ghosts of the Shadow Market #1-#10)
Authors: Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson, Kelly Link, & Robin Wasserman
Publisher: Margaret K. McElderry Books
Publication Date: June 4, 2019

From New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Cassandra Clare comes an exciting new short story collection that follows Jem Carstairs as he travels through the many Shadow Markets around the world. Ghosts of the Shadow Market is a Shadowhunters novel.

The Shadow Market is a meeting point for faeries, werewolves, warlocks, and vampires. There, the Downworlders buy and sell magical objects, make dark bargains, and whisper secrets they do not want the Nephilim to know. Through two centuries, however, there has been a frequent visitor to the Shadow Market from the City of Bones, the very heart of the Shadowhunters’ world. As a Silent Brother, Brother Zachariah is a sworn keeper of the laws and lore of the Nephilim. But once he was a Shadowhunter called Jem Carstairs, and his love, then and always, is the warlock Tessa Gray. And Jem is searching through the Shadow Markets, in many different cities over long years, for a relic from his past.

Follow Jem and see, against the backdrop of the Shadow Market’s dark dealings and festival, Anna Lightwood’s doomed romance, Matthew Fairchild’s great sin, and Tessa Gray as she is plunged into a world war. Valentine Morgenstern buys a soul at the Market and a young Jace Wayland’s soul finds safe harbor. In the Market is hidden a lost heir and a beloved ghost, and no one can save you once you have traded away your heart. Not even Brother Zachariah.

Stacking The Shelves #136/Sunday Post #68

Stacking The Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality as a way to share all the books we got during the week!

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. Its a weekly post to showcase what books you got, recap the week, and talk about what will be coming up this week on the blog!

Thanks to Scholastic for both of these books!

Thanks so much Netgalley, Inkyard Press & Random House! I'm so freaking excited to have Soul of the Sword!!!! You guys know I loved Shadow of the Fox last year and I'm sooooo excited to see where the story is gonna go!!

So Hunted and Sea Witch are audiobooks I checked out for June since it's auidobook month! And Hunting Prince Dracula and Tales of Folk & Fey are kindle books. I loved Melissa Marr's Wicked Lovely series and this book has some short stories from the series! So I'm really excited to read them! :D

I'm back! I'm really happy! I finally feel the motivation to start really blogging and reading again! And I've actually been getting a lot of posts scheduled, including some discussions!!! Things are definitely looking up!

So some updates. Ana finished her first semester of preschool. She is doing so well! The speech therapy is definitely helping her! She also got to graduate to the next level of preschool. Here's a pic from her graduation! She was all smiles!

She's also in swim lessons, which is fantastic for her. Not only is she learning how to swim, but she's also starting to really get over her huge fear of water and that is HUGE! I'm incredibly proud of her!

So I mentioned in my last STS post that I had started dating someone. So we started dating (again) in February. He's someone I dated in the past, but also someone that's been one of my best friends for 10 years. Us getting back together was something we both thought about and wanted for a while so we decided to. And honestly guys, its been really good for me. He is such an amazing person and I really couldn't ask for a better boyfriend, especially one as loving and understanding about everything as he is. And on top of that, he is absolutely, 100% the best stepdad I could ask for for Ana. I have absolutely no regrets about me and him getting back together. So, let me introduce you to Jeff. :D Expect to see more of him in the future! LOL.
